    The press have been unkind to Natalie Imbruglia's latest album, and even her fans have given it mixed reviews. Sales have been slow in her native country - a mere 700 units sold in over the launch weekend - resulting in a thrice delayed release in the UK.

    North London outpost Crouch End, notoriously difficult to get to, has quite a musical pedigree with Dave Stewart and Bob Dylan often seen wandering through the trendy, independent High Street shops. Add to that Crouch End's latest offering - off-beat rockers Bombay Bicycle Club headed by Jack Steadman on lead vocals and guitar, Jamie MacColl on lead guitar and backing vocals, Ed Nash on bass and keyboards, and Suren de Saram on drums.

  • A Brief History of Love Big Pink

    The music press have been quick list Big Pink's influences, and it's not difficult to see why. An amalgam of My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses (a Second Coming sensibility) and Richard Ashcroft produces an eclectic blend of rousing guitar, acoustic strumming and heartfelt vocals. Then consider Shed Seven but with melody and Doves with tempo and you are somewhere close to what Big Pink are about.

    There has been a production line of Australian actresses turning to singing over the years. We've had Kylie and Natalie and Delta and now we've got Lenka Kripac. Lenka is a singer-songwriter and all her songs on this debut have been self-penned. Her style can be best described as naive waif meets kooky and her ditties have an endearing charm and simplicity about them.
