Tamiya Porsche 928S
The purchase of the Tamiya Porsche 928S kit was pure nostalgia. I owned the 12" to the foot version back in the Yuppie era and felt I just had to own the somewhat unusual 1:20 scale model. The full size version was long on elegance but short on reliability. In that era Porsche cars were bedevilled with electric problems and my example didn't buck that particular trend. In the end the car became a liability - or to be precise - a money sink. No matter how much money I threw at it, it wouldn't run quite as well as it aught. The Tamiya model on the other hand looks like a belter - with working steering and its own motor. The one glaring omission is a decal for the chequered seating pattern. I'm unsure how to replicate that - if indeed I do rather than opt for a one-colour approach.
